Geologist and council had meeting of minds

Glass Earth on home straight
Minerals exploration company Glass Earth is now doing the hard yards, and hopes to complete the flying component of the Otago Geophysical Survey in the next three weeks or so, Chief Operating Officer Simon Henderson says. "It's dragged into winter, where the weather can be a lot trickier for flying, because we lost the use of one of the two units we were using for a while, but we're nearly there," he said. And the data to date? "Off preliminary cuts of data, it's fair to say it's looking exceptional. It will indeed rework the geological maps of Otago," he says. Glass Earth has invested $3 million to the Otago Regional Council's $1 million in the survey. The survey, which began in January, is covering a 17,000 square kilometre area, with more 50,000 line kilometres to be flown.
